Carb Removal TC

Slightly off topic, mod can move if necessary.

I would title this, Unusual Tools or similar.

I've had the car for about 6 months, most of the work done so far has been cleaning.

Here are some of the more unusual tools I have used to get the jobs done.

Any discarded socks I find are used. Washer and drier in garage, so a surfeit of dropped socks. I have two thick sheets of old box cardboard under the engine, to catch any drips. Pull the sock well up your arm, Use an Artists brush (above £1) and a small pot of kerosene (make sure you are well ventilated ) to clean all the difficult areas around the engine. You will find several spots to get your arm right in. No half dozen cuts on your arm from clips and screws. Now with your arm still in the sock, wipe all the areas you just cleaned in kerosene, you can feel your way around confidently and clean everything. All the pipes, underneath the engine mounts, around timing housing, distributor, the oil filter and dipstick. I can even get down to the sump at the front. (TC) Everywhere you can. Dump the sock wash your hands.

The Blue Flat Brush in Photo. Now if you haven't got one of these, get one or several today. This had got to be the most useful tool I have found for cleaning a P6. Roof channels, around the heater box, under the bonnet and wings, around the bonnet mounts, (I took out a Crow Feather and a ton of dirt). It goes around the inside of the grille, the boot channels, even around the doors and quarter-lights, in and around the engine. Totally Indispensable piece of kit.
