A new programme on channel 5 that was on tonight at 8pm for an hour, Did anyone else watch it? IMHO to say I was disappointed would be an understatement, typical tv drivelle, could have been a lot better if they concentrated more on the resto, looked like a lash up to me very disappointed. :| :?

Fake drama, annoying commentary, and they didn't show any of the work being done :(
Gimme American Chopper any day
Jim

Hmm an e type with a glass sun roof :?
I was looking forward to it , but what a load of over acted s**te ! I'm with Jim , American chopper :D

I missed it so just watched it online. Have to agree with you all:- total cr@p. Can't believe it only had one small panel that needed welding attention
If there is one thing I have learned from reading the members projects on this forum, is that you should never rush anything, take your time and do it properly, so even though they are 'professionals', god alone knows what they may have missed.

Doesn't work for me either.

Total rubbish, and why would you paint it and then do the mechanicals?
Exactly!!!

Really came across as a 'quick fix' type of resto:- not good viewing for anyone on here I think.

Why do these program's have to set to a ridiculous time frame. If they think its adds drama it doesn't. I watch these program's because I love cars and want to see what work they have to do, there is more chance me sticking with it if they just cut the crap. If on the other hand this is to appeal to the masses then it won't because if they're not into cars they won't watch it at all!
I can't believe that they bodged an E-Type though. What sane E-Type owner would rifle through a scrap yard to replace parts, what are the chance of finding the correct parts, "ooh look, E-Typre discs, exhaust and a shock absorber!" Utter s***e.

I can only agree with others' posts; very disappointing for all the reasons stated. As soon as I saw 'Bernie' I knew it would be a let down - have you seen "Chop Shop"??

Now did anyone see (& hear) the Fiat Dino on Wheeler Dealers..? :p

I thought I was watching an episode of Minder ,but without the plot ,awful television !! who would want to win/buy that E-type now ? not me that's for sure !!

Utter codswallop . When he reversed into the engine you could see how much filler was in the wing . And that glass roof - why not fit a Webasto . The bit they glossed over " replace worn piston" .Was it worth £30K finished ? Seems high to me
That mockney cockney Bernie was also on Superscrimpers where one of his tips was to lubricate doorlocks with washing up liquid to prevent freezing and also he was saying if your battery needed topping up , it wouldn't take a charge.
Almost makes Wheeler Dealers worth watching .Tonight Mike and Ed buy a Mk2 Jag ............Have to feel sorry for Ed as he never seems to charge for his labour

opinion at work was that it was tripe, i only saw the last 10mins and that was enough for me!

i thought id seen the sunroof before though... was it one off of a rover metro? it couldnt have looked more out of place if it tried

You'd think after all that time he would have learnt something, but not a chance...

It's so bad that I'll be compelled to watch, just to see what moronic antics he gets up to in future.

Complete waste of time watching it. I thought that it just seemed so artificial that it was unbelievable. Knowing E-type prices, I sincerely doubt that the parts alone for even a half-baked resto like this could be purchased for what they spent 'restoring it'. The amount of filler that they ladled all over the car was worrying, and I'm sure I spotted a hole in the bonnet when the chap was hitting it repeatedly with a hammer 'like wot the craftsmen at Jaguar did when Bernie visited 'em'.
The paint finish didn't look bad, but quite how a 4.2 can be described as unusual, or highly desirable is beyond me. Any six pot is popular, and even the V12 is liked in late cars. An E-type is one car where I feel an auto box is wholly inappropriate. I thought that perhaps there was more than a spot of HGF, or just special effects about the 'engine problem'. Didn't sound the healthiest when the valuer looked around it either.
Nevermind. They didn't ruin a nice E-type. Afterall, there are loads of 'cheap' Californian imports about, and I'm afraid that for me, it would need to be a series 1 drophead or fixed head.
If I were spending £12k on a big GT, I'd just buy a reasonable Jensen Interceptor to use extensively. 8)

I got so fed up with the annoying bald moron's loudmouth braying I gave up and flicked through after the first 5 minutes.

Utter garbage.

As an informative programme by channel 5 its an absolute waste of time, devoid of any obvious expertise, showed nothing worthwhile "actually" being done by people in the programme, and as for doing the paint job before sorting the mechanicals - just showed what they do not know about restoration !
As for the monkey that drove into an engine on a hoist - well  says it all........

or, just to see it another way, they understand that, for the market they are aiming at (the ill-informed and easily fooled), you’re more likely to get big money for a shiny but shite car than a rough looking but sorted one. On the budget they talked about and the time frame they gave themselves to work too they were never going to get both.

I thought the valuation crazy, if what was shown on the TV was all the checking he did he’s no expert, whoever he was.

Pure soap opera crap…..
