could it be?

After a 134 mile drive yesterday and my usual 8 mile trip today in buttercup, it dawned on me that I filled up 340 miles ago and I'm still running the same tank :D the most I was achieving before was 280 miles, the only change during this time being the addition of the bonnet scoop. So could it be the extra air into and around the carbs has increased my fuel economy? If this is the case wish I had done it sooner as it feels more responsive and with the added economy I have the best of both worlds :D
Any thoughts?

Sounds a huge difference! I guess you need to try another tank or 2 to get an average?

Well, the theory that getting cool air to the area in front of the intake trumpet should improve power and economy is sound. But I wouldn't have expected it to make that much difference. But then you have also had a good continuous run on Sunday and I bet there wasn't much trafic around. So it could just be a combination of circumstances. Running in stop start traffic versus a nice steady run does make a much bigger difference to the V8 than it does to most cars.

I agree with both replys there most of my driving is mixed so very similar month to month so will keep monitoring over the next few months and report back.
