Dealer window stickers...

This one is a goody, to say the least. We've just bought a low mileage 1974 3500 auto which was originally a Denevo car. All the paperwork and the back window sticker are still present - rare as rocking horse poo.

I'm going to get some further shots of this one as we may be able to get some replica stickers made up. I've never seen one of these before.

Cheers
Nick
Our Denovo car has still got hers in place.

Mine only has some residue left where the sticker was :(

If I go for a repop, I would like to have one made like the one I saw in the rear window of an Allegro VDP (this is for real!)

This Vehicle was supplied by

Arthur Daley Motors Ltd.

Then there was a London Address and phone number. Unfortunately (or not surprisingly?) the company doesn't exist anymore.

Hi there

My mate used to have a part time job as a sales assistant in Halfords in the late 1980's/early 1990's. The "Arthur Daley Motors" sticker was sold by Halfords back then and he had one in the rear window of his (actually his Mother's) hearing aid beige 1979 "V" reg Allegro. He used to get loads of freebies that were "end of line" type stuff left over after sales. He had a fake car phone, fake bullet holes across the back window, a waste bin and all sorts of tat in the chocolate brown velour interior.

I was with him in one day in the car and we got stopped by Central Scotland Traffic Division (in a fantastic MK1 Rover 800 Sterling "Jam Sandwich") and got a 7 day slip for "emitting blue smoke" which I thought was hilarious at the time. The Allegro was scrapped soon after.

Happy days indeed.

Sorry to drag this thread up from the deepest of deep depths but I keen to see as many dealer stickers as possible... Not only may they be of use to people on here that'd like to get a repro' made for their motor but it's just such an evocative thing to see...!

Now I have to admit I haven't been a member of the Rover world (I miss my P6B!) for quite some time but I am still in the BL world with my cracking little Triumph Toledo and I have realised that the amazing Henly's dealer sticker that the ever helpful Nick Dunning posted on here is perfect for my steed... I just need to find out about getting some repro's made!

The stickers that are on here not only help Rover owners but many other owners of BMC, BLMC and BL cars so let's all do all we can to share a few of these great 'blasts from the (rear window) past'

Thanks again in advance...

My '72 3500 was first registered as a company car in Peterborough (with Precision Tools Ltd) but I don't know which dealer it came from.... were there many Rover dealerships in the town I wonder?Cheers, Nidge

Interesting stuff indeed!.
Who were the three Rover dealers listed in Peterborough?
Murketts, Smiths and Marshalls?
I would bet your 3500 would have been supplied by Smiths, my Fathers 1970 2000TC was supplied new by them.

Incidentally, Precision Tools are still going at the same location. They are a specialist machine shop that does quite a lot for Perkins Engines. They very recently changed their name to Precision Tech. I use them quite a lot!.

Since I'm selling it I've dug out the 'Rover Distributors And Dealers' booklet that came with the car - which lists Kennings Ltd in Broadway, F.P. Smith Holdings (Eastfield) Ltd in Eastfield Road / New Road, and Murkett Bros. Ltd in High Street. The first page of the 'Passport To Service' book is stamped showing 'F.P. Smith Holdings (Newark Avenue) Ltd' as the vendor.

Nice to hear that Precision Tools are still a going concern!

You sparked my curiosity while mentioning the D&D booklets.I have 2 Sixteenth editions, dated February1967, but also one first Edition dated March 1964 that came with my '65 2000SC.The early one is titles British Isles Edition.
Interesting stuff.

I do like a nice tread-plate, ermmm, plate...!!!

These look very classy and really do make any Rover feel that extra bit special. This particular plate is from a 1972 3500S...

Anymore for anymore...?!

Does anyone know if Henlys supplied any of their cars with tredplates, or were they just supplied with rear window stickers...?

(Cheers in advance - I'd love to have something appropriate to go in my P5B Coupe which came from Henlys in September '70)

My P5B was supplied by Henleys but has no sticker. I don't think treadplates were supplied by them, at least on the Rovers.

Cheers. The (knackered) original front number plate on mine still has traces of the Henlys name on it and an outline in the rar window where the sticker was, it was probably crumbling to bits as they often do.
