Do you think this will catch on?

It doesn't seem to offer any advantages over Desmo drive, and it's certainly clunky! Really don't think the 'valve pistons' could offer the same gas tight seal as conventional poppet valves. There's also a helluva lot more reciprocating weight, but my main question is.... what the hell's going on with that combustion chamber!! It's just basically an opposed piston engine, but without the advantage of being able to take drive off the second crank.
If there were to be a new 4-stroke, sleeve valves would be the way to go in my book. Fairly common in aeronautical engines in the 20s-30s. Port area can be as big as you like, no chance of collision, and much more compact.

Hi, I agree with Redrover. When I saw this earlier today I thought the upper crankshaft
was contributing to the power output, if it's not, then it is a lot more power drain than a
conventional camshaft and valves. All it gives is larger inlet and exhaust ports and there
are other ways to get more air in ie forced induction. Practically speaking this makes for
a very tall engine unless canted over. There is not much room for the spark plug and would
be right in the centre of the engine. So, no I don't think it will catch on. But it is nice to see
people thinking outside the box and having a go at some thing that can soak up a lot of
money.

That is sort of where I was going with my thoughts, but you put it so much better than I could have...

The inventor has just signed up for the forum. Hopefully he'll explain more about it :)

As I have an irrational dislike of turbochargers, I find any alternative to forced induction attractive. He appears to have put in a lot of serious work. It would be great to be able to see one of the prototypes running.

Hi all .. I am sending a picture of my family and me, from the old days. My uncle, who also had a car repair shop in Glasgow when I was with him as a little boy, he had a car Rover .. But unfortunately I do not remember what it was a model. Here pictured in Poland in Zakopane, also has a car produced in the UK.
I stand proud also to the right. So the automotive industry since I was small .. :)
