Dropped a clanger!

New tacho turned up to replace my non functioning unit:)

Its is an RVC, only fly in the ointment is that the one I am replacing is an RVI :(

Can it be fitted in place or is the signal different?

Do I just bite the bullet and fit electronic ignition and the RVC?

All assistance greatly appreciated

Rik

If an RVC is fitted to a car wired for RVI will it work, both types used the same distributor?

Most of the information I can find on the forum relates to fitting electronic ignition with an RVI and there is a lot of posts suggesting that people have fitted electronic ignition with an RVI and it has worked perfectly

Read that Harvey, all went over my head

I`m a mechanical engineer!

I thought your response was a bit soft until I found and read the thread in question(by codekiddie) - right over my head too!
My 67 TC tach is totally uninterested in real-world engine revs, but the face makes a very good spot to attach the suction mount for my sat-nav!

Interesting that you post this, as my only drive in my car (new to me) thus far had me thinking that the Tach might be reading high (that or the engine is really smooth). When I get a chance I'll have to break out the timing light with built-in tachometer...
