Edd China's hammer

Just watching Wheeler Dealers and I am amazed at Edd China's hammer. He can tap a track rod end and the taper just drops out. Saw him do this with a lower ball joint too, just undid the nut and a quick tap later, it dropped out. That would save me from lying on my back with three different ball joint splitters, a selection of hammers, and a first aid kit for four bleedin' hours, and also the need to replace rubber boots every time I look at them !

Anyone know where I can get one?

Apparently you get them from the same place that sells all the 3 door mk1 Escorts......

Edd China may be an affable enough bloke, but when it comes to actually doing anything he's like a cow with a gun. Dismounting the ARB and using a ratchet strap and gearbox support to remove the strut? I have no idea how I've managed all these years without them.....

You or I may need Thor's magic hammer to do the job but he obviously opted for Maxwells Silver hammer, I have heard tell that you only need tap with that one.

I have to admit to feeling sorry for anyone not in the know, who watches that and then decides to fit his own steering rods on his front drive :)

I guess these are edited for violence and language to show before the watershed. To be fair I've worked on my old Audi 100 and these were fairly straightforward to do.

I like the episode when he adjusted the rear ride height on the peugeot 205, rear torsion bar
just pushed out of splines in rear arms, funny they have always been seized when i used to replace them.
Looked closely and saw that the arm assembly had been heated up with BOC oxy/then hit
with his magic hammer.

The shows are all rehearsed.A team of mechanics inspect the car before Brewer gets closer than 10miles down wind and the price is agreed before he turns up with the "hold out her hand" routine. Then Ed 'me old' China 'diagnoses' the faults that have already been found and repairs them without a hitch. Likewise the sale is done and dusted long before the 'buyer' gets to stand in front of the cameras.
In one program Brewer says "I can't believe how good I am at this job" neither can we pal.
