end-to-end encryption on Facebook

from what I can gather Facebook are about to offer their members end-to-end encryption on all private messages that neither Facebook, police or government can penetrate, THIS is what Facebook members are looking for of course, this is a big selling point for Facebook. if the Police require them to provide details of a particular private message, Facebook will say in all truth, "sorry we can't, we have end-to-end encryption, nothing we can do"

End to end encryption doesn't mean they can't have a backup log of things that are reconstitutable... If you have the key you got the secret. Government agencies would however have to put every request through Facebook.
