Engine identification

hello people,
I have a question on the engine that i bought. It was installed in an 1987 Range Rover. The engine has 11 03 1977 imprinted but on the place where the number normally is found, only “34” is imprinted (poorly). On the belhouse flange the number “CK1100N” is imprinted, but i can not find a link to the engine on the internet. I have measured the displacement and it adds up to 3500ccm. The engine has 2 carb’s. See pictures.
From
Rover V8 Engine Numbers this one seems most applicable
34100001 R.Rover carb 8.25:1cr 1970-1983
But what i dont understand why it is not properly imprinted.

My question is if somebody can make something out of the above numbers to identify the engine.

I'd say the original number on the side of the block has been removed, for whatever reason, possibly because the block has been decked, and the shoulder of the block at the back has been faced up and another number stamped there, but I don't recognise that as a Rover number.
Some engine builders do stamp their own numbers on engines they build, but I wouldn't be sure about the legalities of doing that.

Rover Part numbers for new engines have a N on the end, I wonder if the CK1100N means the same. R is reconditioned

I am thinking to imprint a new number and have a question on the numbering. If i look at the engine numbers on the website from Rimmersbros, there are many zero’s in it. I have seen several engine id numbers pictures but most of them have other numbers than zero. Does each engine have a unique number by replacing the zero’s for sequential numbers?
