Evening all, travelling for an mot today the 2000 TC drove perfectly, on way home started missing and occasional popping, could this be timing ,plugs,
points, coil. Any ideas please?.thanks

These days the first thing I would look at would be the points/condensor/rotor/cap, all of which seem to have quality issues in new parts on sale.

Over the last 50 years the causes I have found, in order of frequency:-
Condensers
Carb. issues
Duff Fuel ( More often than one might expect)
Plugs.

Try running a substitute lead from the coil negative to the distributor terminal. I'm fairly sure it was the internal weakening/breakage of that lead which caused similar symptoms on two P6s I've owned. Easy to do, so worth a try.

Hi all.. new member love the site.... did you try vaccum pipe from manifold... disconnect it and block the outlet from the engine. Could be brake booster. Its an easier and inexpensive check.

many years ago, I had an issue with mine missing when the car got hot , it took a hell of a job to find , It turned out to be that the Rota was slightly loose on where the pick up is welded, so when the car got hot the HT circuit kept breaking down
