Hello all
About 12 years ago we had a series 2 (1972) 2000 automatic, but we changed it to a 2000TC manual after it kept "eating" driveplates every six or so months.
It was a very good car but the dreaded metalworm got to it in 1996.
Anyhow, this is my question:
If I understood the Haynes manual correctly, when the EP mark aligned is with the pointer, the timing pin should enter the flywheel. Is that correct?
I seem to remember that on the 2000TC engine we fitted, the pin would not enter with the EP mark aligned but would when the EP mark was, if I remember correctly, was about an inch above the pointer.
Is this true to all the 2000/2200 engines or was there something wrong/amiss with my flywheel/engine?
Any advice greatly appreciated
