Years ago I worked at a fabricators, quite often cracked manifolds came in for repair. The shop was heated buy a large cylindrical wood burner made from an old pressure vessel. The manifolds would be placed in the woodburner for a while, stick welded with cast iron rods and then returned to the wood burner, and then cooled gradually, mostly it was a successful process.
