Exhaust

I've got a bit of a blow from the exhaust on my '68 V8 P6b where it meets the manifold (see pic). It looks like something is missing, is there a bit of gasket missing or is it just on the join and something i can fill with exhaust paste? The middle box has also developed a hole so am thinking of possibly getting a complete new system, has anyone suggestion on a good place to buy a complete exhaust? Thanksexhaust.JPG

Normally no gasket between manifold and downpipe. On yours someone has tried to put some sort of exhaust sealing between. Could mean, that the studs of the manifold have lost most of their threads, so it´s hard to tighten the downpipe. Before you loose the screws, apply WD40. When loosening use also WD 40. When the downpipe is off, you will see, how it seals if anything is clean and not too rusty. Risk is, off with the manifold(s) and new studs (which is not that easy..).

I'm want to buy a complete stainless replacement. Has anyone got any recommendations, I know Wins and Wadhams do them but wondered if anyone has experience of any of these and how they fit. I'm hoping they are all a very good simple straight forward replacement fit but have experienced pattern parts before and know that sometimes they can need a lot of "fettling" to get even close.

Got the rear two sections from Wins. They are the "Double-s" brand. Fitting was easy, no special fettling required.

mine was blowing slightly on near side ( V8 P6b 74) found out one of the studs was partially stripped so unable to tighten fully. in end had to drop exhaust and drill through manifold to fit a through 'bolt' as stud failed in manifold and we decided trying to remove manifold after 40 years may end up with more issues ..eg cyl head /bolt adhesion.
bought stainless exhaust first and second part. that fitted well at front but middle to rear needed bit of sorting as not 100% aligned as hanger part was out of position.
now leak free !
