Flat spot

Hi All

First of all thx to everyone who has chipped in on the 'sluggish downshift' post, I'm now convinced this was due to a throttle linkage which had over an inch of play in it. This is now fixed and kickdown works fine.

Car is still hesitant pulling away from junctions.

I have balanced the carbs and the idle speed is a little fast at 740rpm. However the piston on the nearside carb is definately more hesitant in moving upwards with increasing throttle than the other. I have cleaned and reassembled but not much difference. The butterfly valves on each side are clean and seem to operate fine. The timing was set at 2deg BTDC and I has advanced this to 6deg BTDC this seemed to improve the situation but only marginally. No audible pinking under load on 97 ron fuel so I'm tempted to leave it like this.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thumbnail of carb below ..... I think it is the HIF6 but happy to be corrected
