I believe all P6Bs manufactured from around 1973/4 onwards got the later lip seal? Not sure what engine numbers would denote this if in fact they do at all.
No, that's the rear main, all front seals were rope.
A few parts dealers seem to stock these lip seals as a replacement for front rope.
Got mine from a chap who use to travel to the U/S a lot, pretty sure they were fitted to Buick v6 engines

To change front seal ? No. If you have a P6 cover and you want to convert to lip tye seal (see Harvey´s info), you must look for a conversion kit, this lip seal has a metal housing and you must grind away the stop marks for the rope type seal.
With the conversion kit (got mine from Real Steel) you will get a manual for this also. I cannot imagine (maybe wrong), that you can simply use a standard lip seal.[/QUOTT
