Afternoon All,
am looking for some opinions on new front discs for a 3500s.
I can see evilbay listings for Wins and also EBC discs, does anyone have experience of either before I shell out my hard earned beer tokens!
I notice that the EBC ones are listed as 262mm diameter as opposed to 270mm for the Wins ones.
Thanks in advance,
John

There was a load of errors in some catalogues years ago.

Cross check the part number and see what else they fit, I am sure there was a listing that showed front disc for a P5 fitted an austin 3000 but when you looked at the sizes it was clearly wrong.

Also there is a lot of fake brake parts on ebay so I will only buy brakes from a known supplier.

I bought some from a well known supplier (not Wins) and they were terrible. They would judder from cold and get worse when they got hot, so I took them off and refitted them very carfully, no difference. As I had already had a bad run in with this very rude person, and got absolutely nowhere, I just took them off and replaced them with an uprated set up from Fosseway Performance.

There are at least three types of factory discs for the P6, in short V8, Dunlop and Girling but there are also differences in diameter and offset between the four cylinder models so you need to be very certain which disc you are buying. I'm also heading in the Fosseway direction as soon as the lottery comes through... They also sell a useful looking little device that makes the bleeding of the rear brakes much easier, has anyone tried it?

I bought the V8 ones.

I have bought a one way valve and a brake hose joiner, so can make up a remote bleed system like Fosseway's with a spare hose that I have, very easily and at a fraction of the price. Clever idea though, just need to get on with it :)

The Fosseway remote bleed kit is popular in the Jag world, as the rear calipers (with bleed nipples on both) can be even more of a pain than the P6. The kit's a tad cheaper from Stevson's.....or even cheaper from quattro. ;)

I rebuilt the IRS/diff/calipers on my S-Type last winter, and you can see how access would be tight, tucked up under on the car. The exhaust tailpipes also pass through the cradle making things even tighter. I didn't go for the remote kit, and bled the brakes before fitting the pipes.

LOL

I'm not selling anything to do with brakes  - I did put some pics up a while ago, here... - Rear caliper bleeding

I haven't fitted it yet, and probably won't now as I will hopefully be starting on the jag diff install shortly.

People turning away business....what's the world coming to! ;)

Hope all's well with you, mate.
