Fuel Filter V8 A/C type .

My 72 P6b has air-con therefore the fuel filter sits under the drivers side carbie .
I can't find a replacement that doesn't leak at the joint when tightened up . Bit of a worry as the exhaust manifolds are about 15cm away , directly under the filter .
There are two brass olives that slide over the filter inlet/outlet pipes . These are obviously crimped down under pressure when tightened onto the fuel line with the existing fuel line nuts.
All the auto outlets I have tried don't have the correct diameter filter , therefore leak $$$'s
Any ideas where us antipodeans can get the correct fuel filter from ?
$70 odd NZ off ebay plus freight aaah !
I haven't tried V8 Landrover for fuel filter parts yet . Would that be an option ?

I replaced the one on mine. You can salvage the olives and nuts of your original filter by cutting the pipes and sliding the olives off, then I just bought a generic Ryco 5/16" inline filter for about $10 and carefully filed the barbs off the ends. Then just pop the nuts on and twist the olives on gently. Worked for me, as long as you don't damage the olives when you take them off.

Hi Gerald,

I do the same as Al, except I buy new olives.

Interesting that you fuel filter had been relocated as a result of the fitment of air conditioning. I suppose it depends upon the air con and who installed it. Local Rovers that I have seen display a wide variety of systems, some keeping the fuel filter in the original spot up above the mechanical fuel pump.

Ron.

I am a little lazier, I cut the fittings off the metal hard lines, ran fuel rubber hose with fuel hose clamps and installed a generic Z14 ryco filter. A new filter is around 14 dollars at the most and I used about a dollar's worth of fuel hose.

Thanks Al
Top info . Common ol Ryco eh .
Ron my P6 is a/c factory fitted . The fuel pump is rear mounted electrical - factory oe. I didnt like the filter under the carb then - still don't .
Came into West Oz as a newbie , Was a bit of a novelty back in the day for the pit crew at Faulds Rover Subiaco ..
So many variants on the one model .
Bit like the iPhone with all these different chargers that only fit one model !!

Mr Ewok
Thanks for that hint too .
Hadn't thought of that - makes total sense

Al , is that RYCO Z 14 -15 ?
thanks

Wasn't my idea, it was Ron's. I replace mine about once a year and usually throw on some new fuel hose and clips at the same time just as a precaution.

and yep, Z14 Ryco filter is the one I use, though I notice that their manufacturing quality is slowly getting worse and worse so I may switch to something else soon.
