Fuel smell

i have recently moved house and the new house has a garage integral to the house. I notice a slight wiff of petrol getting into the house after the car has beeen used. Its not a leak I presume its from the tank vent. Is there anything I can do? I presume modern cars have some sort of valve which shuts when the engine is switched off. I wonder what car dealers did back in the day.

The P6 NADA that was for the U/S/A had a sealed non vented system a bit like new cars today, it's not uncommon for U/K cars to smell a bit in closed environment.
Just make sure that there is no leaks, the mechanical fuel pump can leak externally from a tired diaphragm when left overnight.
Clive.
