Gear box whine

The cable was new and had only done about 30 miles , the bends init didn’t look to healthy.I think there were different lengths avalible , what’s the general consensus on this for a converted auto? I have heard a stuffed speedo head can cause this too

The standard 3500S cable should work just fine if it's routed correctly.
If you can't pick the broken bit of cable out using long nosed pliers then that plastic sleeve and the driven gear should just lever out so you can get the broken bit out on the bench.

Thanks I’ve got the broken bit out by using some pliers though the rubber grommet on the transmission tunnel , there’s no cable init at the moment I’m waiting on a new one , what is the best routing for it as the angles seem harsh to me , if I drive it with do cable how much oil will I lose ? Or is it best not to drive it at all till the new ones in

I wouldn't drive it until the new cable is in. Where are the sharp tuns in your cable routing? Is the cable going through the hole in the gearbox remote?

I’ve rebuilt the box today and re fitted so far so good very minimal noise from the box ,

I'm glad to hear it. Now if it were me, I'd be getting the first motion shaft bearing that came out, putting it on the back of the vice, and hitting the outer track with a hammer until it broke, and then looking at the balls and tracks to see what was causing all of that noise...

Nothing really obvious
