Gear stick gaiter replacement

Hi Folks, returning to do some work on my 3500S after a long absence. I need to fit a new gear stick gaiter, but it appears that the bottom fixing plate is long gone. The previous owner drilled some holes in the tunnel cover (nice!) to try to fix but as you can see from the photo, it hasn’t worked. Does anyone know if the fixing plates are available anywhere? I’ve tried the usual suppliers with no success. Alternatively does anyone have a photo I could use as a rough template to make a new one from aluminium plate? I’ve managed to source a replacement tunnel cover but without fixing plate.
Thanks in advance!
Scotty

Lot's of centre consoles get broken and aren't fit for sale, so try the P6 dismantlers, (Wins, MGBD) they may have one knocking around to sell.

Thanks Harvey, much appreciated. I’ve just seen one on eBay but as part of a big job lot, so they do exist! Many thanks again.

In the end the problem won't be the plate. You're probably going to find the little plastic studs on the console have broken off so there is no way to secure the gaiter.

I'd start the seach for a console in good condition.

Thanks Guys, that’s the one. My new console has 5 out of the 6 studs, so I reckon it should work if I can get a plate. Thanks for the photos, that’s a huge help and also for the bonding tip, that may be the way to go. I tried Geoff Winn last night to see if he had a plate but no joy.
Thanks again! Really enjoying the forum.

I guess l was a bit subtle. You can have that plate for postage & a pint if you wish. ;)
Hi, that’s very kind of you and much appreciated! Please let me know how best to get in touch with you. I’m in Sydney so logistics for a pint could be challenging, but I’m sure there’s a way! Also have access to a UK address if easier. Thanks again.

My wife sends stuff worldwide, l'll get her to look into postage to Sydney. You can send me some beer tokens which l will exchange for a pint. :p

What is the correct name for those little clips that go on the pins on the underside of the tunnel finisher? Do they push on and twist off?
