Without inspecting those chassis repairs very, very closely.......

Considering the state of the paintwork under the bonnet, I would really want have a good look underneath before parting with any money.

I didn't know you could get that much info past MOTs Willy? That would be very useful when looking at buying a classic.

Richard

It's useful when buying (or not) relatively modern cars too. I've used it to warn myself off a couple of apparent bargains recently.

Thanks for the replies chaps. I know of the MOT history, although hadn't looked for that car, not encouraging.

I had a mental note it had been for sale a long while, but not that long!

I looked into buying this car several months ago

The colour combination is awesome (IMHO)

The seller sent me some detailed pics of the car

There is a fair bit of rot on the outer panels, doors especially and the roof panel is badly rotted in the corners and will need replacing

I believe mechanically it is very good

The seller is quite open and honest if you get in touch with him

I was very tempted but eventually bought a four pot as a "toe in water" experiment soon followed by a V8

I will see if I can locate what he sent me

You have to inspect these very late models very carefully as the build / paint wasn't that good as they were using SD1 paint process and in my opinion not built as well as earlier series 2 cars.

Hi Mick.
Its only my opinion but the cars ive seen/ worked on and broken up are best ( talking about series 2 cars) 1971 to about 74/75.
Having said that the avocado met police v8 I saw before resto the base unit was really good with only minimum of welding found.
Back in the days when breakers yards were plenty I saw a late 2200 tc on T reg completely rotten, this would have been about 1984!
You just have to check each car you see very carefully and it's also worth taking a p6 enthusiast /mate along as well.
Clive.
