GRP Wings

OK i'm going to sound really dim here, but what is objection to/reason for GRP wings not being well received on P6s?

I know they are not OEM but no rust must be an advantage.

I keep asking Lake View Garage the same question over and over again and keep getting the same answer.
It is because the panels never hang properly on the vehicle.

A pity - the lack of corrosion and light weight would make these very attractive.

Thanks for that, i'd heard the same then spoke to a bloke with a Wolseley 1500 who has had GRP front and rear wings on his car for years, he said he did minimal trimming to fit them and has been delighted with them and was disappointed GRP doors werent available!!

I've never fitted them to a P6, but I've done front and rear on P5B's, and the fronts were a real pain, and although they looked pretty good they would have taken a lot more fettling than I was prepared to give them to improve things further. The rears were a different matter, and they fitted so well that after one got damaged and I taped over the gouge to tidy things up temporarily the Insurance assessor that inspected it couldn't tell, and paid out for a new steel one....

The one think I would advise if you do fit them is to thickly underseal the backs of them as that lessens the colour difference you get with them and makes them feel more solid.

A lot does depend on who you buy them from.

I've had them on the front and back before. They take a little bit of playing to get them to fit perfectly, but they look fine to me..
