Hello - just joined with an unusual project.

How do you plan to do the ignition? Timing 3 distributors would be a nightmare! My thoughts would be to use a distributorless ignition system (DIS). The timing reference can be taken from one engine and then used to fire multiple coil packs to ensure that all are in synch.

Ignition no problem. Just break it down, how does one cylinder relate to another in a 4 pot engine. Just treat each engine like its the only one, then get them to tick over // idle at the same revs... easy

Getting closer to working out bonnet line and seating position, although its gonna have a single bench type seat, not 2 singles. They are just to get an idea of height.

Cant help but think that you really do need to find a better box to be at the end of all that torque.
As it stands at the moment you are faced with an open book as to how you construct the mechanicals with no restrictions on what Box you can use at the least I would be looking at the ZF4HP-22 as it is a lot stronger box with a 4 speed overdrive gear, you would not ever need be off idle in normal driving.
Other boxes may be better but at least with the ZF bell housings are a dime a dozen to fit the RV8.

You Sir are certifiably insane. What an awesome project, I love it. I can't wait to see and hear a video clip with that beast running!

Had a 22 in my BMW 740i. They are incredibly troublesome - and expensive to fix.

Regarding the present auto box. Please explain what the problem will be. If I remember rightly. these boxes were used in the big Rover, often with a caravan on the back. This car will be about half a ton lighter, no caravan, and a careful driver giving it minimum throttle always below 2000 revs.

Yes Mustang under the cover, which with its new windscreen that I collected yesterday, is now for sale as I don't use it much as have too many toys - and a Transit van, haha.

Also collected the cogs and chains for the chain drive from box to axle. Lotsa stuff arrived today, so tomoz sees carbs, brakes, thermostats, starters all being sorted. Also been in touch with a company who might be up for making 24 stainless stub exhaust pipes............game on !!

Found the radiator from Hell today, think prewar Vauxhall lorry, bloody heavy but in fantastic condition, and just the right size........

Looking good! But isn't that chain drive going to be awfully close to your legs when driving...? Is suppose you're going to fabricate some housing for it, but that's going to take up quite some space isn't it? Looking forward to seeing more progress on this bonkers project. :D
