Hi all,

I've just taken ownership of a 1973 3500 in Monza red, which has been in the family since the early 90s and there has alway been a P6 about when I was growing up. I've been lurking on here a while now before posting, reading posts about water pumps etc.

I'm looking forward to resurecting this one which although it starts and runs, hasn't been used for the last few years. There's a coolant leak from the water pump, now work in progress, and ATF coming from the gearbox which I still need to investigate. Other issues will crop up I'm sure, but first I need to catalog all the spare parts which came with the car.

Anyway here's a photo on collection day.

It MIGHT not be a worry ATF is leaking because if not used in a month or two the torque converter drains back into the sump and leaks out. Drain the old fluid anyway and clean up the underside and refill.

Hello!
Your monza red looks quite genuine, and a late non-vinyl roof too.

Just bought a 3500 myself. I've had a couple of 3500 'S' versions in the past which were great, but the automatic is quite a revelation for me, as it somehow changes the cars character completely. Suits wafting about for me nowadays as I'm approaching senior years...

Thanks all for the welcome and advice so far, all very much appreciated as I've never had anything from this era before. Most of my vehicles have been from the 1980s, a couple of VW Sciroccos, Golf GTI and Peugeot 205 and 309 GTIs. The AF sockets in my sets will not stay shiny much longer and I've had to go and buy myself some AF combination spanners.
