Hello World!

Hi everyone! My name is Dom and I am finally experiencing the "open road, open world" after recently passing my driving test and I am happy to say that it is all thanks to my Rover 2000 TC.

In the beginning, after trawling the internet for weeks for my first car, my dad received a call from an old friend.

"I've just found a car in my dad's shed, want to have a look?".

Little did I know this question was a life saver! A 1972 2000 TC awaited us when we arrived. Unused since 1982, it had some bumps and bruises but it's a start, and a bloody good one at that in my opinion.

After a short time and a bit of work on the car, I was finally in a position to take some lessons and get my license, and I have loved every moment since.

I was informed about this forum after joining an owner's club and thought I would give it a whirl!

I look forward to reading about all the projects currently being undertaken, all of the projects that are still seeing the light of day, and all of the drivers that make it happen.

Thanks for reading,
Dominic

Hi Dom, and welcome! Sounds like you've got a good start there. Would you be able to post any pics of your car? Have you got her running yet?

Hi sdibbers, thanks for the warm welcome! We managed to get some life after a head gasket replacement, a new water pump, distributor cap, ht leads, plugs, points and a condenser . After running for about 2 weeks we have had another issue pop up so it's back to the garage for a short while whilst we figure it out. I have attached a couple of recent photos, after the body work.

Looks Great Dom! I like the black exterior with red interior. What's the latest issue?

I found with mine that I had about six months of issues popping up after prolonged storage. But she's now reliable. (Looks around for wood to knock on)

Best,

Steven

I intend to respray it again in the summer when the weather fits, the current paint job was a bit rushed as it was done on the drive coming up to November. Still keeping it black though :) It's a fuel leak atop the float chamber, I've just had a nice bit of advice from demetris that I am going to check tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Also, what would you say was one of the worst, if not the worst, issue that arose?

For me it was the rear main seal going. It did give me the kick up the backside to put in the engine I'd built as a 2200TC. You can read about the work carried out here: Getting back on the road

The Member's Projects section has some great reading. Some of the stuff people are doing is astounding.

I've just been reading some of the things you have done in your project thread and I must say, wow! I hope to someday have the knowledge to be able to do even half of the things done on the projects. It's amazing to see so many people putting so much time and dedication into their cars. I can see why my dad wants me to learn about classics that's for sure.

Great to read of more young people with P6s. I bought mine as my first car, too!

The TC should be a lovely car to live with, and it looks very distinguished in black, with the toledo red leather. Keep us updated as to how it goes! :)

Well unfortunately it's back to the garage for another couple of days! Someone at work reversed into my front bumper, thankfully the overrider saved it, still a scratch to the chrome though :( The clutch started acting up on a recent drive and the front passenger brake is sticking. Both should be done by the weekend though (I hope). On a side note, does anyone have any tips on bleeding the clutch? I've looked into it and it doesn't seem to bad of a job but it will be the first time doing it and any advice is appreciated :D

Cheers :D

My first car was a 2000TC, and I must admit that I loved it. Had a P6 ever since (just about) and that's now nearly 40 years. look forward to seeing it about.

The clutch is fairly easy to bleed as it's a short run.

Richard
