How many stars for this car?

Hi there,
Here is an old advertisement for the safety of a Rover 2000, and probably applies to all Rovers p6 and pb6 type in that era.
I did not know that those safety standards were available so many years ago.
Most modern cars have a 5 star ANCAP rating in australia, notably the new FORD mustang has only achieved a 2 star rating in Australia, I wonder what a period Rover would have achieved today?

and they forgot to mention that if inadvertently you forget to put your seat belts on, the way the bonnet crumples effectively stops anyone flying out of the windscreen. If you do remain in the car , same bonnet does not come through like a guillotine decapitating anyone in the way. Clever!

I like the Note: " although the front lost 18", the passenger compartment is intact".

Obviously didn't notice the roof buckled upwards and the "A" pillar forced back behind the door....

That said, by the standards of the time it was way ahead of most.

Hi, looking again the impact has been the other side of the car, because the front door aperture has changed shape.

Interesting to note as well that the Rover Co. of North America was housed in the Chrysler Building.

My P6 had "Side Impact bars" in 72. Volvo made a big feature of SI bars in the late 90's. Slow to pick up some safety features.
That ANCAP rating of 2 for the new mustang is a joke. What a mess. Should be given away free to ISIS.
Here is NZ Great Wall vehicles aren't ANCAP tested. What a load of political BS. "Dont hurt out major trading partner's feelings" -BS
Oh - now Im getting angry . I promised myself I wouldn't do that .

Those rear passenger's faces are forever ruining my non padded front seats :p

I have just thought of a new safety feature that could be added to our old cars to avoid collisions.
Its a large magnet of the type that repels opposites, north to north or is it south to south, once fitted we could never ever come closer than a meter or so?
I wonder why an electromagnet of this type has not been fitted to cars before? it automatically engaging when too close.
Do you think that I have hit on a unique device or should I go back to bed?

I think that the mustang is going to be withdrawn from the Aussie showrooms until they fix the problem, with all the hype on launch and its only marginally better than a Great Wall is an insult
to the Australian public, shame on you FORD.
