How much leather is needed to re-trim a pair of flat pleat front seats?

More specifically, would a "half hide" be enough leather from which to be able to cut four 'horseshoe' sections for two seat backs and lower cushions? My central pleated sections are in fine form and could be re-used, but the surrounding larger 'horseshoe' shapes have tears and will need to be re-done. Anybody on here know much about re-trimming leather seats?

I had 2 full leather seats (928) done years ago - seat, squab front and rear - 1.5 hides. Get some references , choose a trimmer, ask him. There might be a fair bit of wastage involved in horseshoe shapes. Keep any leftover bits for later repairs maybe.

I had both rear seat backs done last week. The facia's were very good but the tops were badly sun damaged. The seats are Buckskin leather but the tops ( I assume that is what you call the horseshoe) were Ambler and very badly damaged. The trimmer replaced the ambler with leather and the result is very good. Cost £300.

By 'horseshoe' I was trying to describe the big curved pieces that kind of look like an 'n' on the seat back and a 'u' on the seat base, and surround the inner pleated sections. The biggest panels of leather on the seats.
Thanks for your input, fellas.

Sorry I misunderstood. I think your problem might be a bit more complicated than mine was, so will probably cost more. Best of luck.

If you can find out the size of a hide, why can't you work this out yourself ?
Surely the horseshoes will interlock minimising waste and area needed, and the grain will all be running the same way. With luck one hide would be adequate.
Depends on how fat your cow was I suppose.
