Huco electronic low pressure fuel pump, man enough?

Hi all, fitted the Huco electronic fuel to my 73 V8, engine bay version and recommended by a few other forum users. So the pressure is 2.1psi but l see the HIF6 SU's require around 3.1 or more psi yes ?. So would this cause rough pick up when gently reving? Seems ok at higher revs but worse when hot on low revs, also the butterflys in each carb have the old emission poppet valves which l believe are trouble when being this old, better to swap out for non valve flat versions? Many thanks

From my understanding, no. SUs work with anything from 1.5 to 3.5 PSI. As far as I understand there only needs enough flow, not a particular pressure to top the bowl of the float chambers. The enemy is too high pressure which will prevent these closing off properly. The fuelling from there on is all down to the engine vacuum and the effect the throttle opening has on that. I wait to be corrected.

mine runs fine on a front mounted Huco. Have you tried resetting the mixture as documented in the manual? I did that after new needle&seats and jets - ran fine, a little flat, so I have screwed the mixture screws in(richer) 3/8 of a turn - terrific now. Innovate wide band shows a little on the rich side, in the13s.

Hi all, thanks for the replies, very useful and appreciated . Will keep the Huco fitted now l know its pressure is good. Have replaced one of the poppet valve butterflies with a good flat version (polished) so will obviously change the other side too. The spring on the removed poppet butterfly was very week so probably opening when it shouldnt be.
