This happened a couple of weeks back, but I thought it might raise a chuckle.
I replaced the UJs on the prop shaft on Beryl. During which I lifted the car and used two 7/8” steel rods in the jacking points as per the manual (I know the jacking points are in good condition). Instead of my usual thing of putting the rubber bungs on the back seat I left them on the roof. Fast forward to putting the car back on its wheels. I put in the right hand bung, and for some reason forget to do the drivers (left) side one in. I go for a test drive and feel pretty pleased with myself.
Next morning, I go for my bike ride. Turn down the next side street and I see a rubber bung in the road. Think to myself, ‘that looks just like the ones in a P6 sill’ and carry on riding. Next weekend take the car out and notice my missing bung. Of course in the meantime the street cleaning truck has gone by. Good bye bung.
TLDR: loses bung, sees bung in the street, does connect the dots, loses the bung again
