in my boot

hi there, could anyone tell me what should be in left hand side of my boot (trunk) between the inside panel and under the material flap? there is a "clip" about 5 inches long srewed to the panel, maybe for the tool bag or something? thanks for any info, karl

Hi Karl
A tool kit in a roll up and a hand wind pedestal jack fits in there ,secured by a large rubber band. Hope this helps
Gerald

Not exactly, that's a bodge! But it does work fine. The correct part is a big rubber 'O' ring basically. About 3/8" thick. They aren't easy to find so just do the bungy cord thing and it will be fine.

Great. Now I have another part to find... lol.
In my parts manual I do have a part number for a "tool roll securing strap" but its for wire wheel cars.
Any one have a pic of the original tool rol/jack securing rubber band?

My car has one. I can photograph it tomorrow when it's light if you like, if no one comes up with a photo in the mean time.

I said I'd photograph the tool strap and I keep getting home after it's dark! I'll have a go at the weekend.

Sorry, Tom

I've finally made it into the garage whilst it's still light. Here's the large rubber band fitted to my car.

I've no idea if I've stowed everything correctly.

Thanks for the pics Tom.
I'm also interested in what would make a suitable replacement.
Anybody know how long these rubber bands are?
Roy

The rubber band is quite stretchy, more so than a vacuum cleaner belt. It feels like it's on the limit of hoe far I want to stretch before I'd worry about snapping it, but that's mainly because of it's age. I don't know what the smaller 2nd band does, I'll have to look in the handbook on that one.

My first port of call would be a plumbers supply .Possibly a rubber seal for a 100-150-180mm pressure pipe might fit. Worth a try
