Indicator issues

Hi, I'm having a problem with my osf indicator. At first I thought it was a bulb as the n/s flashed fine but the o/s flashed at twice the rate and only at the back. I replaced it with a working bulb and it didn't make a difference. I put a test lamp on the live feed coming out the inner wing and it flashed at twice the normal rate so not sure why it's not lighting the indicator bulb, too much resistance from the bulb I assume? As the test lamp only has a inline fuse it won't take much to light.

Any ideas as to why I'm getting a different flash rate from the wiring at the front?

Thanks.

The flasher unit needs 42 watts to work correctly so putting a small test lamp on wont take enough current. Check the earth and the feed connections to the R/H front flasher lamp in question and that power is getting to the bulb connection in the lamp itself

Sounds like a bad ground on the unit.

Thanks gents.

The flashers work at the correct rate but don't light the osf bulb so i'll try a different earth point. The unit is okay as I ran power directly from the battery and the lamp lit in the holder.

The lamps are notorious.

I have had really wierd things like earthing via another bulb.

All you can do is check the bullets, earths are bad, try removing the other bulbs to see if they are the problem on the slowest side.

The power feed is the problem. I ran a live from the battery to the unit and it lit using its original earth. I assume the relay won't be the problem as it just switches power and it won't know if it's switching for the off side or near side so it must be in the wiring somewhere.

I hate electrics.

Now sorted. I replaced the live bullet connectors for the indicator unit and did the earth one just for good measure. All good now (famous last words!)
