Introducing Eve

Not to much to update at the moment as I am still(!) waiting on the correct windscreen and replacement bumpers..
But I have added a battery inhibitor that is operated by a push button on the dash......

Plus I was able to get A/C components from a car being broken up in Ireland. I will restore/rebuild these over the winter and then see if I can face installing them :)

Finally the correct screen has arrived!
Only ordered it in Feb, but hay ho 4th time lucky and it's here now.
Also the replacement bumpers have arrived so there is truly light at the end of the tunnel.
There is a good chance that the car will be fully finished in time to drive up to the NEC when I visit Stan and HNJ.

Thoroughly enjoying this thread, great to see the persistence to get it right. Should be lovely to look at and drive. Keep up the good work.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Screen finally fitted and wired in! Can't believe how long this has been in the pipeline, but it's done now :)
Also fog lights wired in at the same time.

Hoping Dave the trimmer can start putting the interior back together in the coming weeks............

We have some progress!

For the first time since 1995, she has an MOT!

Just waiting for the kickdown to be sorted and a rolling road tune, then I can start to put some miles onto her :)

This and other threads are giving me interior envy. Love the carpets and the center console. That radio looks amazing, would have been very expensive compared in the day, probably came fitted in a Merc.

Congratulations! Any idea when you'll be actually driving - can't be long now.
Not Long........ I had hoped to get it this weekend, but issues with kick down cable mean I won't be able to :(

All being well, I am now planning on collecting 6th Dec. Will then take down for sun roof fitting in the new year :)

Result! :) Keep the pictures coming as you progress.

The interior back in........... The covers around the rear screen are not fitted as I am having these covered in old English cloth by the sun roof fitter, and will go in at the same time as the roof.

I had hoped to have collected the car by now, but with any long term project you need to be prepared for the unexpected :)

When being driving for the first time by Colin (up to the tuners), he noted the the kick down wasn't operating. So it was decided to get this fixed before putting on the rolling road.
This should only be a tweak with the cable, but needed to go back to first principles as there are no definitive settings for this gearbox in a P6.

Colin asked the company who had rebuilt the gearbox and they provided this diagram, with the info that 39mm is the correct setting for the gearbox cam that was installed.
To get kick down, the cable needs to have an extra few mm travel when connected to throttle cam. So heres hoping that the throttle cam has appox 41 or it will have to be modified.

Its annoying that its to far away for me to have a fiddle, but I just have to wait for them to have time to play........

On the plus side.......
Colin reported that on the drive to the rolling road that the exhaust sounded 'awesome', the car fair flew, and that the gear changes were undetectable.

He has promised me that he will let me know when the work is due to happen so that I am not in a constant state of anticipation!

Oh one other thing whilst I remember.
I tried to change the tax class to historic at my local postoffice, and they had no idea what I was talking about. So I phoned the DVLA and have posted of the relevant bits to them by recored delivery. Just got to wait now for my refund.............

A great feeling it must be for you, Pete, being so close.

Not wanting to introduce a negative note, but what's going on with that handbrake lever?

It is so close, counting down the days :)
I will get it back just when the weather really turns!

The back breaks were not adjusting correctly when that was taken, all sorted now ........
