I was never really a fan of Mike Brewer until this recent series of his, I’m not sure where else it’s available to watch or if it’s Motortrend only. You’ll need a subscription if so.

Mike visits a couple of long-standing engineering shops in the midlands in his series 2 2000. There’s a metal spinning family business and an classic wiring loom manufacturer.

That was an excellent watch. A good memory & an entertaining storyteller. The first time l've heard The Rover Company Ltd being described as "grubbing about on the ground", plus a tank factory & the contract to build a jet engine swapped over a five bob dinner, those were the days. :)
I very much enjoyed his amusement over the antics of the prototype Harrier buzzing around on a piece of string & being "very difficult", despite Hawker's confidence in their planes being fine straight out of the box.

Stumbled across this on another automotive website, too good not to share here even if it doesn't feature a classic Rover.

Turn up the volume.
My goodness me that makes me all tingly in the feelies.

Oh, and how about the oriental carpet under the big tool in the Runge dream garage! Class.

In Runge dream garage the axle stands beside the compressor, are the same as mine. How is cool is my garage?

One day I too will build a Great Room, with oriental carpet under my beautiful handbuilt car. One day....

C'était un rendez vous - Claude Lelouch
An eight-minute drive through Paris during the early hours (05:30) of a Sunday morning in August 1976.

Someone has calculated the speed at various point, showing a maximum of 122km/h early in the film. Using two helpers, one at the exit of the Lovure Arch and the other was the girl at the close. The film maker told his girlfriend he'd arrive within ten minutes at the Sacré-Cœur and asked her to appear upon his arrival.

Ah yeah but..... for 10 points car was used to film it ?
For an additional 20 points what car is making the noise ?

Allegedly a 6.3 Mercedes Benz 'S' Class was used for filming, but a Ferrari was overdubbed for the soundtrack. I thought the whole car fanatic internet knew this? Great short film, and I know from short films, having hosted a few Short Film Festivals in a Paris cinema owned by the director of 'Rendezvous', Claude Lelouche. So the legend, he was summoned to the offices of the Parisian Chief of Police, and was told he would have been arrested, but for the pleas for clemency from the Police Chiefs daughter, herself a passionate young film maker.

Again, not a Rover being driven in divine fashion, but I thought this little clip from 2006 is too good not to share. Those gear shifts! I fear my pretending to be this guy is what has put my transmission out of action. In reality I'm not nearly as talented or able.
