Long travel but good brakes.

Hi all.
My P6 has what i think too much travel in pedal. Ive fitted new disc pads at front.
Inboard rear pads are not too worn.
Ive bled the lines and pedal not spongy or depleting.
I have just been given new WOF equivalent Mot. They assessed as compliant. And made no comment on pedal travel. But Im sure they could respond better.
The only thing not tackled is master cyl. booster or change fluid. Can anyone lead me in the right direction before i start pulling things apart.
Cheers

did you have the excessive travel before you fitted the pads? and did you only fit pads? travel usually goes up a bit with new pads but returns to normal once teh pads have bedded. excessive play in a frot wheel bearing will give long travel, as can one seized caliper piston

Thanks for your help. Dont believe it wheel bearings as just got certified. It was better with old pads. I think you may have suggest problem. Caliper as you suggest may siezed.
Ill strip and if nessary replace bith front.
Thank again

its quite possible once you pressed the pistons back one is now stuck in then travel will go up for sure

hmm master brake cylinder may be a possibility .especially of w have tandem brakes. do ensure handbrake is adjusted too as this can on some cars greatly impact travel.

Try clamping the front brake hoses one at a time then both and see if pedal travel is reduced. If better will give some clue to where to look. You say you have fitted new front pads, sometimes when the discs are lipped / scored it can take a while for the new unworn pads to bed in and travel generally improves.
