Lost my sparkle - No spark when engine bolted back togethe

Hope someone can offer a sugestion for this, first, thanks Pete for info on valve order, I got the bits in the week and "enjoyed" trying to make it work today. It ran before I took it apart and theres nothing left over, all the little wires are plugged back in!

The engine turns fine, there is petrol and air, the block has earth, all fuses under the dash check out and when I pull the king lead from the distributor, hold the end to the block and flick the points I get a spark that way. Just not from any spark plug.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you got the rotor arm in ??
When you say you got no spark after the dissy cap, have you checked it with a plug ?
If so, then might be worth replacing dizzy cap & rotor. My P6 died on me one day at a junction, I couldn't find anything wrong, but borrowed a cap & rotor from a mate, and it fired straight back up !

I got the spark back, it was a timing issue in the end, unfortunatley it seems the head gasket may have gone as well...(mutters to self under breath)

Already have, and one cylinder was low - thats what started this adventure off, but I thought it was just valve shims. That'll teach me to try and avoid taking the head off.

Will post when I get round to sorting it out. That 2.2 in the back of dads garage is looking everso tempting now. Is it true you can run them on unleaded?

2.2TC is fine on unleaded, I've run mine on it for years, no problems.
I also replaced the head gasket on it a while back due to an oil leak, wasn't a tough job at all, even a nice little bracket to hold the timing chain for you.

"They don't make 'em like that anymore"....
