Low coolant indicator

When I fitted the header tank on Sparky, I noticed it had two electrical spade terminals on it.

Now, these are to warn the driver if the coolant level drops, but you need a peice of electrical magikery to get it to work. And I found one.

So, the two of the wires go to the tank, and check the level. If there is no level, they flip a relay in the box to connect a light (I can use the choke warning light) to the other two wires.

But, which wires do what, I haven't got a wiring diagram for this little beasty, and although I can guess the red is live and black is earth for the warning light, I was wondering if anyone actually knew?

Anyone?

Cheers

I have an SD1 Wiring diagram which uses this unit but it only shows which wire colours are in the loom to the multi plug. The 4 connections are feed from ignition , earth, feed to warning light and feed to bottle sensor . Do you have someone near with an SD1 ?

Cheers roverp480, I have an SD1 manual but as you say, the wiring diagram doesn't help.

Show season is coming up, so I'll keep my camera on me and have a sneak under some SD1 bonnets.

Check http://www.vintagemodelairplane.com/images/SubSystems/Coolant01.png. This chap has a lot of useful info on RV8 electronic ignition

If you can't get that one to work properly, this lot sell a float switch that should be straightforward to fit, or the entire LBB to monitor the whole shooting match.
I have the Gen1 edition on my Land Rover Disco and it really lets you know if the water level is down.
