Lower link arm (left hand side) for V8

hi Peter,
I;m presuming you mean the round one with the ball joint on the end for the front? If so I can probably help but I'll have to check on postage price...

I've been thinking about these items recently, mainly for making go faster stuff in my case. You should be able to make a control arm with the ball joint at one end and a bushing at the other. The rod in the middle could be a threaded tube and stud arrangement. This would give you a couple of pluses:

[1] A replacement part with new components instead of NOS of unknown history.
[2] A place to adjust caster angle (You'd want to have something for the main arm to get both camber and caster adjustability I think).

Someone on here (Ampwhu I believe) has modified some 4 pot ones with a turnbuckle so they fit the V8.

Wadhams do these. What sort of testing and certification do these have? How accurate is the angle of the joint (they are handed) They are shortened 4 cyl items. I'm guessing technically as the stress is highest at the center it could actually be stronger depending on the welding. Then I don't know the effect of welding such components regards localized hardening/embrittlement etc. These undergo constant compression and tension cycles under braking.

I'm afraid I'm not an automotive engineer so these leave many questions unanswered. NOS just removes the doubt and any certification/insurance liability issues here. Forgive my suspicions.

I know these fetch strong money and if anyone has one I will pay.

Hi Peter,
Any luck so far? I can't remember if I PM'd you earlier. I did have a look and I think I have one new one. Its very stiff without notchiness as per new but has no packaging so I can't say its NOS. Its appearence is as if its been sitting off the car or on a car that's never been outdoors though the taper on the ball joint shows no sign of ever being fitted. Its from the Flynn Auction so I have no other indication of providence. postage to Zurich from here would be in the range 20-50 USD (but in AUD). Most likely around the 20 mark.
Michael

Hi Mike, can you put the tape measure over it as per my method just to make sure?

I'm also not sure how exactly you can tell one side from the other. Look the same to me but are not.

I will PM you.
