Lt77 conversion requirements

No we simply reused the auto prop when we did mine

I did not like the fact that the splines on mine were stretched to the limit, so much so the threaded sleeve would not tighten all the way. I could also get a hold of the prop and move it up and down as there was so much spline out of the joint. A 25 mm spacer closed them up and cured the slop.

I've never eaten breakfast cereal in the garage, but I can attest that my car only got rebuilt thanks to copious quantities of coffee into which many chocolate biscuits were dunked. I think in truth CAD stands for either Coffee or Chocolate Assisted Engineering. Leibniz biscuits came in a rather handy cardboard box, Hob Knobs brought from the UK tickled my tastebuds but the plastic wrapping isn't useful for much else.
I used my auto prop but without a spacer the sliding joint would have been at the limit of extension.

Brilliant, Colin!
JP, you might have to send some Tim Tams up to my part of the planet, where I haven't seen them for sale! Can you get Leibniz, or Hob Knobs, down there? Maybe we should do a biscuit swap before you begin your gearbox swap?

Hi, They are available up here, Tesco do them (but not at the moment) and they're on amazon.

Colin

JP, I was just kiddin'.
Colin, you are obviously a biscuit aficionado of the first order!
Paul, how did your conversion work out in the end?

Have just found a document (hard copy) in my old stuff on this conversion . Its by a Chris Gregory , published by P6 Owners Club in 1989. Would appreciate comments, especially on fixing the rear mount to the tunnel. IIRC this is the basic process I used 30 years ago. Sadly its too big to attache as a pdf....I could email it if anybody wants it or cant get it off the P6 club - their membership is not really economic for me, epecially considering how much info is available here!
thanks

I’m getting more tempted by each new post to carry out this conversion. I have a perfect working 4 speed but would dearly like to try the 5 speed, especially as I understand it you don’t have to cut off the tunnel mountings. Have a 5 speed box already with the remote, can’t recall if I have a mounting bracket though. Would be great if you could share a copy?

Need an email address....There are some pics here abouts showing how to modify (sort of) the SD1 bracket to bolt up to the original mounts....1 for replacing a 4 speed, another for replacing an auto - different body mounts.

Would you like to email it to me, than I can see if I can get it on the thread for all to see?

Cheers

Richard
