Marks on distributor ?

Want to reinstall the distributor means reinstall at TDC and looked for some marks for the "finger" showing on cyl 1 position. Did not see anything on the distributor or the rotor cap ?? Am I blind ?
Any information for a good position of the engine for refitting the dizzy is welcome.
Thanks for it.

Hi, There are no marks on the distributor. Just put the engine on No1 TDC pointing to the 'finger', then insert the dist with the rotor arm pointing to No1 lead on the cap, as it engages the gear it will turn a bit so make sure it still points to No1 lead, if not withdraw and turn it back a bit and reinsert. Make sure the the dist body is able to turn both ways without obstruction because that is how you fine tune the timing. A further complication is it may not go fully home because the oil pump shaft isn't aligned with the slot in the bottom of the gear so you may have to tweak the oil pump shaft round a bit so it does. It can be frustrating so have patience.

Thanks, Colin. Yesterday evening I had the distr in one hand and the rotor cap in the other and thought, what the hell.....

still a little bit puzzled. I´m not the iginiton hero, just try to fix it the logical way. It was a fiddling job (especially with new O-ring). Have set the dizzy to 6 degr BTDC and to have space to turn both directions, I have the center of the rotor finger now on the rotor cap position cyl. 8 which I will use now for cyl. 1 and from here I will go on with the firing order. Tricky or nonsense ?
