My Dad's old Rover 95

I wonder if anyone here has any knowledge of a grey Rover 95, Reg No. 1544PF. This car was my Dad's pride and joy prior to his death nearly 20 years ago.

The last I heard of it, many years ago, was that it was in the hands of a couple who were P4 enthusiasts (ex-Rover employees I believe) in the Birmingham area and that they had spruced it up and were using it for weddings.

It came into my mind a day or so ago, and it just made me curious to know if it is still around.

I have done a bit of searching (Google etc) but have found nothing.

Well it looks as if it might still be alive somewhere!

DVLA enquiry turns up this:

VEHICLE ENQUIRY Services Provided By DVLA:

The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for 1544 PF are:

Date of Liability 01 07 2009
Date of First Registration 01 09 1991
Year of Manufacture 1963
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2625CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour GREY
Vehicle Type Approval

...which means it's still on their database and the Road Tax (or SORN) ran out at the end of June last year. Looks as if it was re-registered in 1991?

Good Luck, and welcome to the forum by the way!

Cheers,

Many thanks.

I didn't know you could do that, but I have found the search page now.

I guess the fact that it is shown unlicenced could mean that it is in a museum somewhere, or laid up in someone's garage.

Edit: That 1991 date is probably when my Dad finally sold it. It had been sitting in his garage unused for some time as he had become too infirmed to drive and he may have let the tax lapse (don't think they had SORN then). I think it had less than 30000 on the clock when it went from him.

I hope that I'm not too late to catch you A1944. Since 1991, I have been custodian of said car, and there are plenty of others on this forum that used to know her, as she has appeared on The P6 Driver's Club (as it used to be known, when it was first founded) stand at the NEC for our first year, because we had a gap in our P6 supply!

If you are still interested, I'll run through the complete history as a continuation of this thread - there are some highs, and some lows, and this year (on Tuesday this coming week, 28th July) is particularly relevant to her history with myself and my wife.

All the best, Stuart

Hello Stuart,

I realise that it is nearly a year since you replied but I thought the search had gone cold and had stopped checking the forum. If you are still about, I would be interested in anything you can pass on, maybe including a photo.

I imagine that it was you who wrote to my late mother many years ago bringing her up to date to that point, but unfortunately she passed away in 2000 and I never came across your details.

regards

Albert

After all this time, I guess that the answer is that the car has been scrapped. Shame, but probably the answer.

You're probably right, the OP hasn't been on here since his last posting. What you could try is sending him a personal message, and if he has set up an email alert for personal messages on here, he might see that and log in to see what it's all about.

Thanks Harvey. Hardly seems worth it now, especially as my original query was only nostalgic curiosity having known the car back in the 1980s. By the way, I am the OP.
