My latest purchase

#1
Hello everyone

I am a new member, I live in NW London

I collected my 1974 Rover 3500 yesterday, I had been thinking about another P6 for a while now, I had a Lunar Grey 3500 between 1995 and 2001 as my first car, so some 21 years later I now have another one.

I knew my latest Rover P6 and it’s very long-term owner back in the mid to late 1990s. The then owner was a fellow member of the Rover club, he bought the car in the late 1970s and I believe it was retained until just a few years ago.

It’s incredibly original throughout, the engine was prepared to concours standard in the mid 1990s and it won multiple awards, the whole car is still in incredible condition today and even retains it’s original Henlys supplying dealer number plates!

I am very fortunate to become the latest custodian of this incredible Rover.

I may see some of you at events over the summer….

That looks superb, congratulations.

I don't think Ambla was available with the '74 models in any event, along with other changes brushed nylon as std, leather optional. Unusual to have the original door mirror(s) and wing mirrors. Lovely.

Wow, that's a lovely car A credit to the previous owner. Similar to the 3500S in the barn beside me, 50.000 miles, Arctic White, SunDym, Huntsman, Leathers. The elderly owner won't sell for sentimental reasons. :hmm:

I am not keen on the wing mirrors so they will be removed at some point.

As you can probably see, I was the former owner. Nice to see it’s gone to someone who knows the car and will get some use out of it! I’m also in the NW London area from time to time, so may well see you around :)
Hi Jon

Yes I saw your original posts on here.

Rest assured that it will be cherished, it will be used but very sparingly.

If you are ever around in NW London and fancy a drive out in the P6 then let me know.

I’d like that very much, will have to let you know when I’m in the area!

As would be typical, I didn’t end up losing my storage in the end, but am happy I got some enjoyment from the car and it gives me the opportunity to try something a little different so all worked out for the best! But if ever you do decide to part with the car long in the future, please remember me :D
