mystery plastic pipe found

Hi there,
When looking at the lower windscreen rubber in a previous post, I noticed this thin plastic pipe emerging from the drivers side A pillar and terminating halfway down the D/S top of the guard, inside the engine bay. There is not one on the other side. What is it for?
It also has a small hole on the bend, see picture.

Hi.
I have a black pipe in a similar position on my NADA, It's the fuel tank vent pipe which connects to a charcoal canister on the drivers side engine compartment.
You may need to follow it to the rear if that's poss to do.

that's an interesting reply..
a vent for fuel coming from the roof area , what were they thinking, maybe its an overflow from the roof for rainwater ?
Peter

Nothing unusual in having the vent pipes high up , the tank one on a none NAS vehicle is up in the rear C post area

I will give it a sniff, if its petrol smell , that's what it is, may have to repair the hole in the pipe as well...
Peter

gave the pipe the big sniff  and found no smell, so maybe its a drain for the roof gutter, although there is not one on the other side?
Peter

This plastic pipe is the breather from the tank to the charcoal canister on the right hand side of the engine. They are part of the emission controls fitted to the late Australian spec cars with the 8.5:1 comp engines. The one on my car has a strong petrol smell when disconnected from the canister.
