Anyone any idea what this plate was for in the boot floor of a NZ assembled car? (S2)
Was it where you could install a lowerable hook to rip up the old speed detector hoses the establishment had back last century?
Or was it for anyone riding in the boot to get some fresh air?
Thanks in advance.
IIRC it is where a tow bar strengthening beam under the boot floor would be fixed. I must have read that on here once upon a time. I've never seen said item.
Mine had rotted away, so I painstakingly made a new one out of stainless steel, fitted it, sealed it up and painted it. Then I thought, what on earth is that for anyway?
I think it was a throw back to prohibition days, when you could dump the 'shine' if chased by the law
