Never sick of the office

Hey @GRTV8 those recoloured door pockets are a great addition. Did yours include whatever attaches the little bellows at the sides? Mine aren't tethered with those cords, or wires, or whatever is supposed to hold them on. In my case I just have the big metal clip at the bottom. and consequently every now and then the drivers pocket now falls out onto the street when I open the door. I guess the passenger one is only staying in place because I don't use it as often. I'd love to see a photo or two of how they are supposed to be mounted? Don't suppose you snapped any while you were installing them, did you?

Hi Mrtask-
Fortunately I did take a couple of pics before I "restored" the bins.
My door cards are factory originals , so all the mounting holes were in place at the rear. Sorry I didn't take a pic when I had the cards off.
Anyway the metal spring mount at the base of the bin takes all the tension when in situ. It pushes through from the face of the doorcard, using the existing factory cut gap. You will have to cut the vinyl on the face of the door card to access that "factory cut gap"
The two side bellows are actually glued to the bin and the two wire ends punch through the doorcard and twine together at the rear of the door card when mounted.
One of the pics shows how the wires attach when the bin is mounted. It is soft galv wire and sold at any DIY store.
The bellows don't actually do anything except hold your stuff in when the bin is pulled open. I guess this is why they are only glued in. I reglued with PVC glue.
I managed to find some sticky back black felt at a haberdashery, cut it to size and stuck it over the manky felt that was originally there inside the bins.
Hope this helps- happy to answer my obscure instructions
Gerald

Thanks for that explanation and those pics, Gerald @GRTV8. It all makes sense now! My bins came with just one rusty bit of wire in the one bellows, leaving me a bit befuddled. Now I geddit! I remember thinking it was cool that the holes were already there in the door cards and all I had to do was make a couple of slits in the vinyl. I think a new set of door cards will need to be knocked up and installed soon, at which point I'll fix the door bins properly. They just finish off the doors nicely, and I can't get over how stingy the bean counters must have been, as they should've been in all the P6s.

No worries- I should have added I didn't actually know what I was doing , I just assumed those two pieces of wire tied in that way.
You will find the door pull handle has a little little of sideway and uplift movement for getting it to fit over the mounted bins.
I must admit I used a bit of biffo with my fist to move the bin as well.
All good Rovering stuff - learn as you go.
One just has to think like a 60's British Auto engineer . If it doesn't fit on the front ,fit it on the back. If it don't fit on the back -use a hammer
Added the pic again as like you said the bins do set it off -albeit a bit hard to use once seated. Seems the bean counters were happy to add them to the NADA models. I can't remember the bins being an option when I ordered mine.
