Hello All,
sorry for my english... I read the forum and think it's time to introduce me.
I like cars especially english cars. I spent a lot of time (and money...) restoring a Jaguar XJC that is currently in painting (a long story).

Meanwhile, I decided to restart a Rover 2200TC purchased two years ago. I'm working on the two HIF6 and it will be ready.
My objective is to take part in a tourist rally in portugal, nearly 3500 km.

My other Rover P6 : a 3500S that need some mecanical work (bad vibrations). The paint is new and i'm refiting it.

Looking good. From a French perspective, I'm curious, why a P6?

I seeing more interest in these cars around Europe lately.

There's a long time i'm interested on P6, but time, space etc It's not very easy to find a 3500S LHD here.
There's two years ago, i find a space and organised my life to have more time. I searched and found this 3500S. I bought the 2200TC for parts... but it was generally in good order without rust. 2200TC needed work on brake, clutch (master an slave cylinder) and carburettors.
Actually, i'm rebuilding the HIF6.

Why I like these cars ? I like Daimler SP250... so...
And i have an other projet : my ID19B, barn find last summer. Strange too.

I think the P6 is a very nice car to drive and is original car.
I like its technical refinement, the rear brake system is subtle... even if when i renovated them it was not easy to refit the spring plates.

Hello Pierre, you clearly have excellent taste in cars! The Citroen looks a superb project too, I'd be interested to hear how it compares with the Rovers, both for working on and for driving.

Hi.
I used to work on d's s when they were more plentiful, not had one in my Citroen dealership for at least 25 years.
They drive superbly ( typical French motoring) If all hydraulic suspension is good.
To work on, i would choose the p6 any day.
Mind you in a dealership you see the worst of any car.
Must admit I didn't like replacing the d's s starter motor or in board front hand brake pads.:)
Clive.

Thank you,

The ID19 started just after connecting a fuel jerrican directly and some little works (oil, cooling fluid , water pumpetc)... 20 years after it was parked ! It needs now embellishement work, paint and brakes overhaul. I will do it after my 2P6.

2200TC didn't run when I buy it. There was different problems and I just started the work on december (2016).

ID19 engine is not very sophisticated but very reliable. Really, the engine needs surprisingly a very little work to start.
The 2200TC needs more attention (twin carbs...).

The Rover seems less noisy, more dynamic, an other perception of comfort but very good.
We sink into the softness of the seats and carpets with ID/DS with a strange driving position. They have a lot of similarities, especially in design intelligence.

Yes, front brakes needs to dissamble a lot of parts... I have to do that... So, I prefer actually finish the work on the P6.
In France there is a good Citroen community ; in my local club, they will be able to help me. However, when they see my english cars, they think they are too exotic ! They don't know.
Exostism is very relative:)

Never saw a fully auto model, mainly D super 5s and the hydraulic operated manual box in the pallas version.

Wasn't clever to fit clutches ( engine and box out )
Still made the day go fast.
Clive.

Wow, so many other P6 owners are DS fans. I'd love one. My neighbour has a DS 23 Pallas and it's stunning. Interesting you say the P6 is quieter, the 4 cyl engine was never regarded as particularly smooth even back in the day. The V8 of course with a top-end in good condition is as quiet as a modern car, especially if you remove the fixed engine fan and go electric.

The P6 really falls down to the DS on interior space, especially widthwise.

Welcome Pierre, good luck with your projects. I love your plan to run a rally with the TC after you get it finished. It's funny, but, just today I saw an ad for an ID19 in pretty good nick for a surprisingly low price located about 300 miles from me in California. I'm really tempted but like most everybody else, no space. I look forward to following your updates, and we like pictures even if it's just the cars.

Where is it and how much... merely so I can bemoan the fact that I am also unable to buy or house it of course...

San Jose California, $15,000. Just looked to get a link and could not find it. Probably sold, looked like a very nice driver quality.

Bit rich for my blood, although I do rather fancy a DS. I am still kicking myself for allowing my wife to forbid the purchase of a one owner Jensen Interceptor for sub $1,000 - better to ask for forgiveness than for permission... ;)

Nice job. The 2200TC is a much nicer engine than the 2000TC. The HS8 carbs aren't a sensible option for a 2litre road engine. It's oddly satisfying rebuilding SU carbs.
