New Member and Ammeter Question

The right hand trunking goes to shroud over the exhaust manifold and the left hand one goes down and out to the front of the car.

I didn’t notice any real difference, I don’t think it’s worth upsetting the visual appearance of the engine bay running a hose across.
Mine came off when I went four barrel carb.
That conversion gained 35bhp.

I thought it was to feed cold air to the engine, but the bi-metal flappity fed warmer air from the exhaust manifold until the engine warms up enough.

Fresh air is all worth while, but if the condition allow it; feeding cool air can lead to ice forming in the carb. The venturi of the carb reduces the air pressure and temperature, which can produce icing. If bad enough can lead to the throttle becoming stuck.
Hence all year round cars had warm and fresh air flappy thingys. Yes, also it allowed the engine to warm faster in cold temperatures.

Note: It has been scientifically proven that blue cars don't follow the laws of physics and are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Fresh air is denser so therefore has more oxygen to burn. My car had a fuel injection system and the coolant is fed into a small area under the throttle butterfly to stop it freezing up.

Strangely I have a blue car, and it does seem to have a problem with the laws of physics. It weighs two tons, accelerates to 60 in slightly under 5 seconds and still does between 45 and 50 mpg :hmm:

Where can I get one of those Blue cars?

Now that's a cool cool airbox.....

Snapped from
(Warning mostly not Rovers, a lot of German stuff.)
Some lovely prep'ed cars and a lot of under the bonnet video.
