finally got it through MOT . though handbrake ( my main concern) was no real improvement even after changing both rear calipers with exchange from Wins.
cable and hand brake quadrant etc all good. still needs a strong arm to use for effect. my old Zephyr has same or almost identical cappers but handbrake went on three clicks easily and help easily. fitted new discs and pads. wondering if the replacement 'pads' are not as effective as cannot fathom any reason for such poor grip on discs .. oh well have to work on a small hole they found on floor ..arrghh rust bug. maybe I should have invested in a De Lorean .. still at least its technically roadworthy at moment though I don't have confidence in her on corners as can't get used to such heavy 'leaning over'.
attachment is the old callipers being removed .

It is important to adjust the back brakes quite closely to the discs to get a decent grip. I had poor brakes once in an MOT, adjusted the caliper so that the travel for full grip was very low, and then it all worked fine.
