poor thing - it HAS been through the wringer hasn't it
and it looks like it was burnt grey previously too
do you think it was it pulled from a lake?? that interior is gross in't it...
door shuts /gaps are a bit suspect too....oh dear ...what's not to like...!!???????????

It's been around for a long time. Was in much better condition when I saw it for sale at Beaulieu a few years ago.

I think that it might just bend and break in the middle. Removing the roof structure would seriously weaken the structure, bit like removing the arch on the Sydney harbor bridge?

Nope - The P6 has a really strong structure. It actually doesnt need strengthening IIRC - Those big box sections for the sill structure are where the strength is.

my observations with convertible vehicles and this is general , is that if lifted on a hoist, the vehicle droops each end. Seen it happen many times, especially on corvettes. But when lowered to the ground the door gaps , magically return to normal after rotating the wheels 360 deg.
Have never seen a p6 convertible on a hoist , so cant confirm how the door gaps change and enlarge when supported up in th air on a hoist.
note : the morris minor tourer that I have been restoring for the last 7 years , does the same, but unfortunately the door gaps are rubbish from the start and do not improve on the hoist..sigh
