I was at work this morning and being a bit bored was looking on ebay, I may of had a bid on a car and got slightly carried away, now got to arrange to get it picked up, does anyone else bid on things and have no idea why.

Never looked at them before so have no idea if I have paid a fortune or done o.k, what have I done.

So much for selling the P6 and buying an M5 first then!
It maybe rotten as a pear, but you may get your money back if you decide to break it!
Transport home will no doubt be another £200.

I went to a local car show in the P6 yesterday, it drove and looked great, it may last another year.

Had a couple of quotes from Shipley, best being £77

M5 possible on its way negotiating at the moment, if I had my way I wouldn't sell anything, I love cars.

Doesn't look too shabby at all. And far nicer than any BMW in my opinion.
Is it being sold by Chiswick Car Craft? Might be worth asking them to quote for delivery.

Dont sell the cars!!!
Buy a house with a bigger garage,or even better a nice barn in the garden!!

Having last been taxed November 1988 I wouldnt have been keen.

Brake will need rebuilt, tyres all round, engine topend, gearbox overhaul.

Having been there you will need £1000-2000 to make it useable. A pair of rear brake cylinders and shoes recently set me back around £300.

The p5 had sponges in the body which rusts out.

My p5 was worse than this looks and if your intending on a resto it doesnt matter so much.

Hopefully it will be ok when it arrives.

well I have taken delivery of the P5, things I have noticed are

A) The selling did an incredible job of hiding all the rot with his photo's
B) I need to invest in a bigger bottle of welding gas
C) I need to learn more about P5's.

Will require a lot of welding, drivers side is the worst, also need to look into what looks like a heater box up the drivers inner wing as that has fallen foul of the dreaded rot, the car has a nice story behind it so will give it a shot.

One other thing to mention is other than dirt the interior is pretty clean if that makes sense but they are a lot bigger inside than I thought, even has its tool tray in the dash.

Sounds like the vacuum tank for the servo, and if so, it's easily replaced with secondhand, or can be bypassed.

I like the blue plaque on the wall of the garage, in the photos from the auction!

I sometimes visit another car enthusiasts website who have a regular feature where you have to decide if a project car found on an auction is a "Nice Price or Crack Pipe", i.e. you'd have to be smoking crack to buy it. Hope the number plate on your new P5B doesn't guarantee you'd have to be inhaling said narcotic to have bought it!
Good luck with the resto.

That's what prompted my mention of Chiswick Car Craft, I was intrigued enough about the blue plaque to look it up.

I am not too disappointed, all the bits removed are in the boot, im not to bad with a welder and there can't be many 1 owner P5's out there regardless of condition.

Looks like quite a project. My favourite colour combo, and leaves me pining for another P5B.

As has been said, it's quite scary, the extent to which P5s can rot, and, they can be very expensive cars to own if you don't do everything yourself, and they've had poor owners before you.

That said, if you restore it, you'll have a truly lovely car, and I wish you all the best with it! :D
