Hi
Will post some pics later, theres just a bit too much for my time availability and limited skillset! Anyone with bodywork/paint skills will find this an easy project.

Quick resume
Solid (but some panels have more rust than originally thought) 1971 GAA12K 3500 with 5 speed;
Red with beige leather interior, have just redyed and conditioned drivers seat looks great. New rear seat belts fitted.
MOT to April 15, only advisories re minor body corrosion and minor oil leak, although we cant find this leak! Free tax to 30/6/2015;
lots of new bits in and around engine compartment - leccy fuel pump, alternator, electric ignition, PAS pump looks new as well;
runs and drives well although speedo needs recalibrating;
5 excellent tyres on standard wheels fitted;
Gearbox (LT77) whines a bit in 1,2,3 - fine therafter;
Frame solid, poor respray (looks great from 10m away) machine polish might improve it, I have addressed rust in door skins and front wing lower part using a grinder, kurust and filler then primed.
all electrics work bar boot light switch - new switch supplied, radio wiring sorted, just needs speakers - I will throw in a head unit;
will come with all the odd bits I still have for it including:
Spare dash and dials;
Manual and loose leaf parts list books - plus a few other bits and bobs, including spray paint, door window mechanism, wood veneer door trims, centre console and cables, period rectangular cibies and mounting brackets.

Door cards are off as i'm part way through fitting new door top to window rubbers.

Sensible offers accepted, silly ones will be politely declined.
Its located near J12 M40 and will drive home (unless I have missed something), the oil pressure issue mentioned elsewhere on forum was a faulty guage sensor and has been sorted.

Message me if interested,

Ian

Re: P6 GAA12K with 5 speed conversion...possibly for sale

Taken this for a few spins out recently, drives fine and oil pressure sensor problem sorted....so I'll be tinkering with it over the winter months and may keep it, if anyone is interested please send a pm.
Thanks

Just a reminder, still ticking off the little jobs.

OK see ad on carandclassic,
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C510665
this is definitely on the market now, I just dont have the time or skillset to get this up to the standard that I want - having looked at a couple at Berkeley yesterday.

I dont want to break it as it is too good for that but it depends on what offers I get as a whole car with MOT.

Did anyone here buy the NOS front wings for £20 in Bedworth last week - if they did, I hate you (in the nicest possible way!!).

Regards

Ian

Re: P6 GAA12K with 5 speed conversion...possibly for sale

I have so nearly bought this car on so many occasions there is a certain sense of inevitability.

However, my mechanic, pictured below, is already showing signs of strain and I'm not sure what the reaction at Lake View would be if I rolled up in yet another V8.

Re: P6 GAA12K with 5 speed conversion for sale

I'm sure your mechanic would be fine, it's your bodywork person who might be kept a bit busier!!

Any idea how I edit thread title?

Bizarrely this became what I didnt want - a bidding war, I hoped I had priced to sell not to be fending off offeres left right and centre.

Apologies to the forum member interested, one of the others called me and transferred the full price then and there, collection tomorrow.

Never had this when selling a car before.

Now to save up for a fully restored P6.

Ian

Don't feel bad. I was greedy and bid low on an already well priced car when I should have just hit the buy it now button. C'est la vie, and I hope its new owner enjoys it 8)

I see its up for sale again this time in portland.
I take it its some sort of dealer glossing over things to make a sale?
if only being given another speedo would recalibrate a 5 speed conversion.
And paintwork that looks great when dirty!
its on ebay but I can, t upload it so you, ll have to look, sorry

At the risk of being a crashing anoraky old bore, I've just noticed that this car has a 3500S badge on the boot but 3500 badges on the wings.

Is this a fake S? I can't get a perspective on the size of that tunnel from the photos.

£2,300 with a week to go. And I could have had it for £1500 :roll: *mumbles something about capitalism and potters off in a 2000*

Yes, it's a converted auto.

He's done a lot to the lower bodywork - when I waved it bye bye there were filled holes in front wings and all doors! Maybe clutch has been replaced as it was a bit low on the pedal. He's re fitted lots of stuff I had removed to aid painting.......
He did say he was a bodywork specialist...looks better in and out than when I sold it!!!
At least I know he got home in it!!

The work he did on it would have cost just over £1800 plus vat - so car would have owed me £3,600 plus and needed finishing off inside, so I'm happy!!!
